I had the need to setup my sister-in-law’s phone today from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6. In the process we needed to change her iTunes AppStore language from her default to English, and also change her store location. Even though her language settings had already been changed to English in the usual settings location, iTunes still had her in a foreign store with her home language.
- Go to: Settings
- Scroll down to: iTunes & App Store
- Tap your Apple ID
- Sign Out
- Confirm your Apple ID and re-enter your password
- Switch over to iTunes and everything should be set to local
I based these instructions based on what I found below. However, when I tried to sign in to create a new account, I couldn’t. The option just wasn’t there.
If the above doesn’t work for you and you do actually need to setup a new account, this is how you do that:
- Make sure you’re signed out of iTunes & App Store (above instructions)
- Open App Store
- Find something to download (preferably for free)
- Click: Get
- Click: Install
- When prompted: Create New Apple ID
- Select Country and Next
- Agree to the Terms and Conditions (twice)
- You should now be at the “New Account” screen
- Proceed as normal and create a new account
First step instructions found here:

which in turn came from:

Why can’t I select None when I edit my Apple ID payment information?
(: Those can become a circular reference :)
